We've been waiting for the biggest music award show in the UK, and it has come and gone! BRITs 2013 has brought the music world together just for one night at the 02 London. As anticipated, all the celebrities turned up looking very elegant and sophisticated- with few exceptions; I can't explain what happened.
There's no doubt they'd have tried on numerous suits and considered countless accessories to finish off their desired looks. First up, we've the man of the moment, Justin Timberlake. He arrived ahead of his performance sporting a classic grey two piece suit with peak lapels. He wore this with a brilliant white shirt with collar bar. The 'Suit and Tie ' singer finished off his style with a classic black tie which acts as a focal point and a printed pocket square. Although he looked a bit spooked out on the red carpet, this gifted and talented individual delivered a great performance on stage.

Justin Timberlake hits the stage for his performance donning a dinner jacket in a reversal of the traditional black jacket with satin lapels. He opted for matt shawl lapels with gleaming jacket . To complete his look, he wore a white dress shirt with studs and oversized bow tie. Pictured here, we've the JLS lads all looking very dapper in their three piece suits - look at their shoes too! It's obvious these lads have paid attention to the details, just like their music. Despite being snubbed in the nominations, JLS made an outstanding appearance; displaying attributes of bespoke tailoring . In the mix, we have peak lapels , shawl lapels , notched lapels , slanted pockets and contrasting lapels and pockets. Their choice of fabrics reflects the versatility of their music- from tweed to checks and solid colour. For representing the best of British tailoring, kudos to their stylists!. Regardless of political leanings, Obama and his family seem to have captured the attention and affection of people all over the world whether it is for his leadership methods, Michelle's fashion sense or his impressive singing voice.
You'll notice that he will always stick to the darker colour palette of navy blues, black or charcoal greys, as these give a very professional appearance - lighter or more garish colours would almost be disrespectful in his position. A perfect endorsement of his family-orientated character we have a photograph here - same suit , snazzy, party-colour-appropriate tie! It's pretty simple really, a well cut two piece , two button suit with contrasting bright white shirt and you're there! I'd use the tie to expressive personal extravagance.

And as I'm writing this on a particularly chilly day I was drawn to this picture of Michelle Barack Obama both in beautiful overcoats . Barack in a classic gentleman's four button single breasted knee length coat with wide notch lapel , but more importantly Michelle's stunning camel coat - three buttons with high collar and black contrast lining! Pairing your overcoat with your skirt really does give a quality finish to the outfit, and means you have a bit more flexibility to your choice of top or blouse - as we know a plain shirt just isn't fabulous enough for us ladies all the time!

Have you been following the X-Factor this year? We have and we have spotted some serious style from some of the contestants this year.
This Saturday we saw Jahmene Douglas performing sensationally (as per usual) while sporting another dapper look.

A classic dinner suit with a modern twist. Jahmene wears a single buttoned black dinner jacket with satin lapels and slanted pockets with a simple white shirt . A classic and timeless look. However, Jahmene shakes up the classic look by teaming the dinner jacket and shirt with teal trousers , bow tie and pocket square to match. Adding a colourful pair of trousers and accessories to match is an inventive way to add some personalty to a suit .

If wearing bold colours or standing out from the crowd isn't really for you, why not wear a suit in all one colour and use a more subtle colour for the accessories ?

Jahmene Douglas does exactly that during the boot-camp weeks of the X-factor. He wears a grey two buttoned two piece suit with wide notched lapels and flap pockets . He teams this with a white shirt and white pocket square . Another classic and timeless look but maybe one for the dapper Gent that doesn't like to make such a bold statement with his clothing!

We are thoroughly enjoying this years X-factor at A Suit That Fits and we can't wait to see what Jahmene Douglas wears next week. Even if Jahmene doesn't win the X-Factor, he has definitely won the award for best dressed Gent from us!

All comic book fans have been spoilt for choice this year with the release of such films as 'The Avengers, Avengers Assemble', 'Men In Black 3', and most recently 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. And with every great film comes a glamorous premiere providing a super sartorial spectacle! I was particularly impressed when leafing through the photographs from the event, to find such a variation of suit customisations.
Even with a dangerously daring plunge neckline everything is secure, adding the perfect amount of glamour to the ensemble. Spider-Man himself, Andrew Garfield, was looking sharp in a simple black single breasted two button suit. A little controversial going for a navy tie with a black suit but that's just personal taste!

Next we have villain and infamous Welshman Rhys Ifans with girlfriend Anna Friel, wearing a fabulously green suit, definitely in keeping with his character, The Lizard. Green might seem quite a bright colour but as long as you keep it rich and dark you can really make a statement, a flannel in forest green would be perfect.

And finally we have director Marc Webb, who has also chosen a classic black single breasted suit. Webb is wearing another example of a half-width notched lapel. He's extended the theme to his tie and shirt collar to ensure the whole outfit is balanced.

Attention to detail: Hand stitched lapels Similar to the ticket pocket, hand-stitching on the Lapels isn't a feature you'd necessarily think about when designing a suit but once you've had it brought to your attention it's a subtle detail you'll notice on every other jacket from then on!

Some people love it, some people hate it, but on a simple suit such as Marc Webb's it adds a little something to make the outfit all the more distinctive. I would certainly recommend using hand-stitching on lightweight cloths verses thicker ones as it is less likely to sink in and will stand out. You can choose to have hand-stitching on any of our jacket lapels at A Suit That Fits so if you love it - we'll make it happen! The Amazing Spider-Man Premiere

Every man at some stage of his life aspires to be like James Bond - licence to kill, access to an equally sexy selection of cars and women, and of course the ultimate tuxedo. When putting on a flawless suit that fits like a glove it makes any man swagger along oozing with confidence - which as all men know is the key to attracting a woman.
I particularly like the above photograph as it shows James Bond in an everyday light that most men can actually relate to - just holding hands with the wife in your lunch break. And yet, even in this more casual pose, how is he still projecting such an air of effortless, debonair sophistication? With a pale grey, mohair, two piece suit, white shirt and metallic, spot-print tie, that's how. This specific suit shows a double vented, two button jacket with straight flapped pockets and a medium width notched lapel and three cuff buttons. The last button has been left un-done for what I can only assume to be some magnificent cufflinks.

The trousers, slightly unusually, have a 1 inch turn up, straight cut and tapered down the leg. If you fancy trying this style for yourself, I have the design ready and waiting so just follow the link: grey two piece . A very appropriate quote that has always stuck in my mind from his first Bond film, Casino Royale:James Bond: I have a dinner jacket. Vesper Lynd: There are dinner jackets and dinner jackets; this is the latter. And I need you looking like a man who belongs at that table. James Bond: How?... It's tailored. Vesper Lynd: I sized you up the moment we met.

It is evidently the jacket that maketh the man. And I say maketh the jacket work for the man! (or woman) For example, when I tried to take my partner's attention away from the PlayStation to show him these photos his first comment was, Now that's a Classic Bond Suit, which got me thinking.

All actors honoured with the role of 007 have also been fitted with their own unique take on this classic grey number. The number of buttons, width of trouser, point of the lapel and colour of tie may change but the impact is equal on each man.

Planning a wedding is a challenge, ask any one, but it can become even harder when you're instructed to stick to a theme. Hands up guys if you've ever been faced with 'sticking to the theme' for either your own or a friends wedding? Or indeed if you are currently faced with such a hurdle and all you want is a classic stylish suit that fits like a dream and you can maybe wear again? The desire to fulfil both the role of wedding suit and future use is becoming increasingly important to the dapper chap as the purse strings are pulled ever tighter.
My quick fix guide will hopefully give you a few ideas to make sure the theme is met and you've got a suit you love for however long you want it. Remember, sometimes thinking out side the box can lead to stunning results. This week I'm looking at 'Reds and pinks.'. Pink and Red

This is a lovely option if you want to keep your suit classic. Go for the contrast detailing on the button holes and a bold red splash of paisley in the lining. This option looks fantastic with the mid to dark greys or black. If you wanted to be bolder with your pink theme choose the orchid lining and slip a hot contrast colour in for added fun. When using lighter pink and red tones you can also happily play with the lighter greys.

For something really stunning go with the the image below. The mixture of both a tailcoat and waistcoat in red tones is kept classic with grey trousers and a white shirt. It's got an amazing Ascot-esk feeling and for future use you could get the lounge jacket to match.

If you going for a more subtle look you could go with a light grey two piece suit with red melton. This way you wedding suit can more easily morph into an events or work suit.

One of my clients really pulled off a more classic interpretation of the red theme by sticking with burgundy tones: Rachel's Wedding Themes: Part 1, Red or Dead Rachel's Wedding Themes: Part 1, Red or Dead Mark really shined in his suit on his wedding day. He was a little worried at first but now he really loves it. A great outfit for versatility; the jacket works well with jeans for casual honeymoon wear and it looks good with a floral Hawaiian shirt, although I did promise Mark I wouldn't put up that picture.

So, reds and pinks are a relatively easy one but getting the balance right is very important. If you really don't suit bright reds as a colour pick on softer shades and blend tones rather than having perfect matches. Having everything in just three shades can be harsh on the eye and while you do want to follow the theme, you don't want to look as if you are the theme.

As for Zombie themes, it's not something I'd advice but a background level of red works really well!

For more ideas or to talk through other themes for your wedding suit book an appointment with me, Rachel at our City Road branch in London.

With the explosion of One Direction in the last few months in America all eyes are on this band. Most pop groups have a main person, someone that all the magazines focus, someone that everybody swoons over.

Here we see him wearing an over-sized bow tie. This type of neck tie has a youthful, playful feel but paired with a three piece mid grey suit it looks like Harry Stiles is going for a more serious suiting look.

This fitted black shirt shows of his slim waist and worn with a cropped grey Jacket that is cut very slim to show off his modern take on traditional tailoring.

It is great to see such a young gent flying the flag for suits. Harry Stiles loves the very slim tailored suiting. He normal sports a two piece but has been know to wear a waistcoat on occasion.
