How to dress on a date depends, of course, on what you're planning to do and whether it happens to be a first or a second date. If it's a first date, you're probably just planning to meet for coffee, so you may want to wear something like a smart sweater, collared shirt, jeans and shoes (never trainers, even for a coffee date!).
If it's a second or third , chances are you're aiming for a more substantial evening, like or a play, so now is your chance to pull out the stops and impress your potential partner.
Depending on the formality of the event or venue, you may want to wear a two-piece suit (with or without a tie) or, for a less formal venue, smart trousers with a wool or cashmere sweater over a collared shirt. The key to dressing for a second date is that you want to show some sex appeal by wearing a suit that fits you well; well-fitting trousers are particularly important in this regard, as is a sweater with just the right amount of length to show off your waist. Depending on the restaurant you take your date to, dress shoes, custom trousers, a shirt and a cashmere sweater will create the perfect look for a first dinner date; a more swanky restaurant, however, will require a full suit and tie.
Never forget that women, contrary to popular belief, are visual creatures, too, and enjoy the sight of a well-dressed man, so play to your strengths by dressing in a way that accentuates your best physical qualities. What about colour? Black is a great colour to wear on your date because, obviously, it has a dark, mysterious quality that complements most skin tones and eye colours. Bright blue is also a good colour to wear on a date because it has a calming, masculine aura that will work on your own mood and that of your potential partner. Colours to avoid might be grey (boring - unless it's a fabulous garment!) and pink, which can be difficult to pull off. Aim for a strong, masculine silhouette by investing in a bespoke suit and a well-fitting sweater: both menswear essentials that, if worn correctly, flatter a man's form marvelously. A good sweater should bring out the breadth of a man's chest and shoulders, while a suit should complement the plains and curves of a man's body. Custom garments, in particular, go a long way toward giving a man that seductive appeal that women (or men) respond to. Think Marcello Mastroianni, always a great dresser and indefatigable ladies' man. .
Designing a bespoke suit can seem scary at times, especially when there are so many options to choose from. The first big decision; I think, that needs to be made is do you go for a two or three piece suit?My advice if you want to take your suit up a notch would be to go for a three piece!.
A three piece suit consists of a jacket, trousers and a waistcoat. The addition of a waistcoat to the suit, adds that touch of elegance, class and stratification to your suit. It's a versatile look that you can dress up, dress down and even wear as separates.
Gary Barlow dons a three piece really well and always makes a strong fashion statement! Here, he shows off a classic six button waistcoat in heavier weight wool worn as a full three piece but the suit could also be used as separates to make the most of the suit.
Whether you have a two or three piece suit design in mind, or have no idea what to go for, come and visit one of our studios and get your bespoke creation well and truly under-way!
We would suggest adding a tie pin for a stylish finish!
Brandon dressing fore-sure for a day in the office as Clarke Kent! Slightly disheveled or could he be heading for the blue red! May be a power plant is in melt down near by?.
We surely can't mention Superman with out looking back at the late great talented actor Christopher Reeve who took on the red blue suit for 4 outings, from 1978 to 1987!
A footballing legend, sartorial style icon and now ambassador for football in
China. Yes he's back in the news again, although he doesn't tend to ever be far from it. David Beckham landed in Beijing today in order to bring back a cleaner image within China's football leagues but started in the best way you can.
Having a kick around at a school in Beijing but wearing a bespoke suit which not many people can normally pull off! David chose to wear a classic but simple two piece suit which is always going to look good when it's tailored for the wearer. Style wise if you are looking to replicate this, David had gone for a
slimline notched collar, straight flapped pockets, two button front, three button cuff and what would I would suggest would be in our range; https://www.asuitthatfits.com/shop/images/Style_Guide/colours/large/Mohair-Kid-Darkgrey-A.jpg
He also carried off a slightly more casual look when he greeted his thousands of fans wearing a black two button knee length overcoat with straight flapped pockets and a slimline notched collar that David had decided to flick up for that added bit of style.
As China's first global football ambassador David Beckham will have his his work cut out trying to recover a cleaner image in Chinese football after several match fixing scandals followed by jails terms for football officials, referees and
players. One thing's for sure, David Beckham will enjoy working with the younger generation promoting football throughout China which is what he has done so well in the past with his footballing academies. I'm pretty sure you may also see him wearing a few more dapper suits along the way.

We've been waiting for the biggest music award show in the UK, and it has come and gone! BRITs 2013 has brought the music world together just for one night at the 02 London. As anticipated, all the celebrities turned up looking very elegant and sophisticated- with few exceptions; I can't explain what happened.
Perhaps their stylist isn't on the same wavelength- you can make up your own conclusions. However, the gents on the red carpet at this year's BRITs Awards are certainly not opting for subdued looks.
There's no doubt they'd have tried on numerous suits and considered countless accessories to finish off their desired looks. First up, we've the man of the moment, Justin Timberlake. He arrived ahead of his performance sporting a classic grey two piece suit with peak lapels. He wore this with a brilliant white shirt with collar bar. The 'Suit and Tie ' singer finished off his style with a classic black tie which acts as a focal point and a printed pocket square. Although he looked a bit spooked out on the red carpet, this gifted and talented individual delivered a great performance on stage.
Justin Timberlake hits the stage for his performance donning a dinner jacket in a reversal of the traditional black jacket with satin lapels. He opted for matt shawl lapels with gleaming jacket . To complete his look, he wore a white dress shirt with studs and oversized bow tie. Pictured here, we've the JLS lads all looking very dapper in their three piece suits - look at their shoes too! It's obvious these lads have paid attention to the details, just like their music. Despite being snubbed in the nominations, JLS made an outstanding appearance; displaying attributes of bespoke tailoring . In the mix, we have peak lapels , shawl lapels , notched lapels , slanted pockets and contrasting lapels and pockets. Their choice of fabrics reflects the versatility of their music- from tweed to checks and solid colour. For representing the best of British tailoring, kudos to their stylists!. Regardless of political leanings, Obama and his family seem to have captured the attention and affection of people all over the world whether it is for his leadership methods, Michelle's fashion sense or his impressive singing voice.
However in this sartorial context I'm focussing on his wardrobe. Surely in such a position President Obama must truly know the meaning of the phrase 'Power Dressing'.
You'll notice that he will always stick to the darker colour palette of navy blues, black or charcoal greys, as these give a very professional appearance - lighter or more garish colours would almost be disrespectful in his position. A perfect endorsement of his family-orientated character we have a photograph here - same suit , snazzy, party-colour-appropriate tie! It's pretty simple really, a well cut two piece , two button suit with contrasting bright white shirt and you're there! I'd use the tie to expressive personal extravagance.
And as I'm writing this on a particularly chilly day I was drawn to this picture of Michelle Barack Obama both in beautiful overcoats . Barack in a classic gentleman's four button single breasted knee length coat with wide notch lapel , but more importantly Michelle's stunning camel coat - three buttons with high collar and black contrast lining! Pairing your overcoat with your skirt really does give a quality finish to the outfit, and means you have a bit more flexibility to your choice of top or blouse - as we know a plain shirt just isn't fabulous enough for us ladies all the time!
Have you been following the X-Factor this year? We have and we have spotted some serious style from some of the contestants this year.
Here at , we have voted Jahmene Douglas as one of the most stylish men to have ever graced the X-Factor stage in it's 8 years of running.
This Saturday we saw Jahmene Douglas performing sensationally (as per usual) while sporting another dapper look.
A classic dinner suit with a modern twist. Jahmene wears a single buttoned black dinner jacket with satin lapels and slanted pockets with a simple white shirt . A classic and timeless look. However, Jahmene shakes up the classic look by teaming the dinner jacket and shirt with teal trousers , bow tie and pocket square to match. Adding a colourful pair of trousers and accessories to match is an inventive way to add some personalty to a suit .
If wearing bold colours or standing out from the crowd isn't really for you, why not wear a suit in all one colour and use a more subtle colour for the accessories ?
Jahmene Douglas does exactly that during the boot-camp weeks of the X-factor. He wears a grey two buttoned two piece suit with wide notched lapels and flap pockets . He teams this with a white shirt and white pocket square . Another classic and timeless look but maybe one for the dapper Gent that doesn't like to make such a bold statement with his clothing!
We are thoroughly enjoying this years X-factor at A Suit That Fits and we can't wait to see what Jahmene Douglas wears next week. Even if Jahmene doesn't win the X-Factor, he has definitely won the award for best dressed Gent from us!
Matt Bomer as Neal Caffrey a skilled forger and thief who was imprisoned after being captured by FBI Special Agent Peter Burke.
Neal's father was a corrupt police officer. What will season two bring? At A Suit That Fits we love the dapper Neil Caffrey's style; he wears his suits very well indeed.
All comic book fans have been spoilt for choice this year with the release of such films as 'The Avengers, Avengers Assemble', 'Men In Black 3', and most recently 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. And with every great film comes a glamorous premiere providing a super sartorial spectacle! I was particularly impressed when leafing through the photographs from the event, to find such a variation of suit customisations.
Leading lady Emma Stone looks absolutely stunning (as always) yet her outfit is simple and chic. A pair of lengthens the leg, and with a thin gold buckled belt it draws the eye into the smallest part of the waist.
Even with a dangerously daring plunge neckline everything is secure, adding the perfect amount of glamour to the ensemble. Spider-Man himself, Andrew Garfield, was looking sharp in a simple black single breasted two button suit. A little controversial going for a navy tie with a black suit but that's just personal taste!
Next we have villain and infamous Welshman Rhys Ifans with girlfriend Anna Friel, wearing a fabulously green suit, definitely in keeping with his character, The Lizard. Green might seem quite a bright colour but as long as you keep it rich and dark you can really make a statement, a flannel in forest green would be perfect.
And finally we have director Marc Webb, who has also chosen a classic black single breasted suit. Webb is wearing another example of a half-width notched lapel. He's extended the theme to his tie and shirt collar to ensure the whole outfit is balanced.
Attention to detail: Hand stitched lapels Similar to the ticket pocket, hand-stitching on the Lapels isn't a feature you'd necessarily think about when designing a suit but once you've had it brought to your attention it's a subtle detail you'll notice on every other jacket from then on!
Some people love it, some people hate it, but on a simple suit such as Marc Webb's it adds a little something to make the outfit all the more distinctive. I would certainly recommend using hand-stitching on lightweight cloths verses thicker ones as it is less likely to sink in and will stand out. You can choose to have hand-stitching on any of our jacket lapels at A Suit That Fits so if you love it - we'll make it happen!
