The nationwide prohibition on alcohol was ignored by many. There was a revolution in almost every part of human activity. Fashion was no exception!
From left to right we have an elegant evening suit with a wider lapel creating a wider shoulder shape with a narrow waist created by a low fitted waistcoat.

Next we have a morning suit , with contrasting footwear to set off the contrast waistcoat! Please also note the use of the peaked lapel again for that statement look!

Then we move onto our third outfit a tweed jacket with a notch lapel and contrast waistcoat and fashionable bow tie in front of a white collar on a blue shirt! If you look closely even though it's the same model his shoulders look slimmer! As your eye line is drawn to his waistcoat and bow tie! A slightly less formal attire!

Finally we have a contrasting Jacket, these are known as either boating jackets or even a smoking Jacket! After dinner attire the simple pocket square colour co-ordinates the light coloured trousers for a formal look! Darker colours are used on the torso for a slender looking silhouette!

Mr Dicaprio we can certainly say you have dressed suitably for the era and stand shoulder to shoulder with your predecessors below! The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby It would'nt be right not to mention the previous elegant gentlemen who have also played Jay Gatsby! Alan Ladd, the dashing Robert Redford and our own Toby Stephens! They all look so elegant! Contrasting colours also used with bespoke tailoring can set you apart from the normal attire! The Great Gatsby

We've been waiting for the biggest music award show in the UK, and it has come and gone! BRITs 2013 has brought the music world together just for one night at the 02 London. As anticipated, all the celebrities turned up looking very elegant and sophisticated- with few exceptions; I can't explain what happened.
There's no doubt they'd have tried on numerous suits and considered countless accessories to finish off their desired looks. First up, we've the man of the moment, Justin Timberlake. He arrived ahead of his performance sporting a classic grey two piece suit with peak lapels. He wore this with a brilliant white shirt with collar bar. The 'Suit and Tie ' singer finished off his style with a classic black tie which acts as a focal point and a printed pocket square. Although he looked a bit spooked out on the red carpet, this gifted and talented individual delivered a great performance on stage.

Justin Timberlake hits the stage for his performance donning a dinner jacket in a reversal of the traditional black jacket with satin lapels. He opted for matt shawl lapels with gleaming jacket . To complete his look, he wore a white dress shirt with studs and oversized bow tie. Pictured here, we've the JLS lads all looking very dapper in their three piece suits - look at their shoes too! It's obvious these lads have paid attention to the details, just like their music. Despite being snubbed in the nominations, JLS made an outstanding appearance; displaying attributes of bespoke tailoring . In the mix, we have peak lapels , shawl lapels , notched lapels , slanted pockets and contrasting lapels and pockets. Their choice of fabrics reflects the versatility of their music- from tweed to checks and solid colour. For representing the best of British tailoring, kudos to their stylists!. Here at tailoring HQ, we can't get enough of Bradley Wiggins' mod style. From the sideburns to the double breasted numbers and sharp pocket squares , the nation's favourite cyclist really is a style force to be reckoned with!.
From the double breasted style, to the contrast buttons, dapper pocket, square and peaked lapel - it was all spot on - and stood out for all the right reasons.

And it's strikingly similar to one of the styles in our gallery - so you know where to come to get the dapper look!

If you want to hear more of Wiggins talking about his style, here's an interview with GQ magazine .

It's that time of year when change is afoot in the fashion world, and we pack away those lightweight threads of the summer season and reach for the knitwear, scarves and overcoats in a bid to keep us warm (and stylish) throughout the more wintry months.
1. Olympic gold Add a flash of this winning colour to your pocket squares and accessories this season, and you'll be in good company alongside the fashion houses of Cavalli Marc Jacobs. Look out for the lesser-spotted orange cauliflower, yellow carrot and fresh corn on the cob and you'll be topping up more than your street cred as you chomp away on a healthy dose of antioxidants, dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals. 2. Paraquette orange Glance into the collection by Walter Van Beirendonck and at times you'd be forgiven for thinking you were standing in front of the familiar carrot mound at your local supermarket.

Dries Van Noten and Jean Paul Gaultier have all used this intense colour to add a more subtle accent, which would translate perfectly to a stylish suit lining. My top tip, when bringing this colour into the kitchen is to look for organic carrots with their leaves still attached. They taste every bit as intense as their electric hue unlike the all-too-common bland taste of the everyday budget alternative. No blandness here, please!. 3. Moss Greens - Raf Simons and Iceberg have taken 'getting your greens' to a whole new level this season. You'll be bang on trend as you tuck into a plate of sauted cavolo nero, kale or winter greens. Incorporate these rich green tones into your sartorial shopping list and you'll be in tune with the seasons in more ways than one.

4. Bordeaux red - Some may suggest that red wine had a slight influence here, but I prefer to think that DG, Gucci, Missoni and Acne (to name a few) were channeling their inner red cabbage as they compiled their AW12/13 collections. This colour really is a must for the season. Style out your supper by adding purple sprouts, beetroot and red cabbage, and the odd glass of red wine of course (in moderation)!

5. Combine for maximum effect No seasonal vegetable could be more stylish than the purple carrot. Encased in a deep red outer layer with striking orange core, this would have been a perfect snack for the Kenzo models backstage at Paris fashion week. Be sure to translate this extravagant colour combination to your wardrobe while hunting down the ultimate in fashionable vegetables.

We've all been waiting for it. Been teased and tempted by various clips, reports and photographs. and FINALLY we have the official premiere of the newest James Bond film Skyfall back where it belongs in London.
So with all eyes undoubtedly on the man of the moment, James Bond himself in the form of Daniel Craig - he certainly didn't disappoint. A classic black dinner suit worn with a crisp white dress shirt , dress studs, matching pocket square and bow tie - simple, fabulous. Though in a reversal of the traditional black jacket with satin lapels , Craig has gone for a matt shawl collar with textured satin jacket . If you're looking for something similar our blue collection-D5 would be the best selection.

Pictured here with Bond Girl Berenice Marlohe who looks absolutely divine in this sumptuous Vivienne Westwood creation (I have an obsession with her incredible bodices) you can see the Bond suit in more detail with his straight flapless pockets and straight tapered trousers - even a satin cummerbund . He's stuck to a thoroughly classic tailored suit which I think is quite appropriate for the occasion celebrating one of Britain's finest.

Shedding the black cape of 'You Know Who', villain Ralph Fiennes gave us another excellent example of a classic dinner suit , complete with satin shawl collar , flapless pockets and satin piping down the trouser seam. You'd normally see a slightly wider satin stripe but this finer piping looks rather edgy!

Amongst the glamourous cast of Skyfall there was also a glittering array of celebrities including Ms Naomi Campbell. I mentioned this new trend of the female interpretation of the dinner suit and I was delighted to find another superb example! The extra-wide peaked lapels enhance the jacket 's feature shoulder pads which give a really dramatic shape to the jacket , and the sweeping cross-over of the striking white lapels bring your eyes into her already tiny waist - very elegant. You'll also notice the back-to-front double vent - most probably intended as more of a stylish slit than a vent but I certainly appreciated the irony!

Here we see Plan B in a two piece grey check suit . His blazer has slim lapels with two button fastening. He compliment this with a blue shirt with contrasting white collar with a spread cut ; this held his grey matching tie well.
He matched this with a white shirt with Londonderry collar style. He has gone for simplicity by not wearing a tie without losing the smart look. At the 2012 Brit awards, Ed Sheeran wore a two piece navy blue suit with pocket flaps and two black button fastening. This time Ed matched his slim lapel with his skinny black tie that has a great contrast against his white shirt . Although he looked really trendy, I'm not sure of trainers at the Brits.

Let The Sunshine singer, Labrinth wore a fawn-coloured corduroy single breasted suit with one button fastening and slanted-flapped pocket. I like the contrasting white pocket square detailing - class! A formal shirt with a bow tie looks totally dapper. I admire his confidence as he opts for a pair of deep green diamond socks to match with his green satin waistcoat . Check out the matching shoes with white shoelaces to complete the detailing.

One of my favourite trends in non-formal suiting recently has been the cropped trouser. The look has, over the summer been seen in all the fashion capitals of Europe, cementing it as a credible style for the smart gent.
My favourite variation of this style that has been seen out and about in the likes of Florence is the navy double breasted, open shirt collar, worn with casual loafers. If you are planning on sporting this look here are some top tips on how to get it just right.

Whilst Bristol's Local Tailor had vowed not to dress his daughter in bespoke or branded finery - or write anything about parenthood for that matter - there has been an ever-increasing dent in my collection of pocket squares that cannot be ignored any longer.
This dribbling, which often resembles foaming at the mouth, can leave a fresh baby-grow sodden by breakfast time! So, in an effort to keep our daughter dry, and afford her a modicum of comfort and, dare I say it style, we tied one of A Suit That Fits pocket squares around the butter-soft rolls of Grace's neck to stem the flow. These particular pocket squares are cut from 100% Egyptian shirting cloth and are provided with the compliments of A Suit That Fits when purchasing a shirt.

The 'Dribble Square', as it is now affectionately known, has become a permanent fixture in Grace Blake's already burgeoning wardrobe. Whilst Grace's parents may not have spoiled her sartorially, her Aunty Tara has bestowed upon her a wardrobe of cute clothes that Grace's cousin, Inca - born 6 months before Grace - has now grown out of and so Grace has inherited hand-me-downs to last an 'infinancy' and been afforded not only style but a dressing regime to give her father a run for his money!

With so many colourways and patterns in A Suit That Fits range of shirting cloths, there is a Dribble Square for every occasion. Whether lounging at home, taking a stroll in the park or watching Idles - Grace's favourite band - there is a Dribble Square to suit, ahem.

I'm sure Dribble Squares will be a Bristol fashion accessory of choice before long, so place your orders early to avoid disappointment. And remember, whilst I am considering registering Dribble Squares as a Trademark, they are only available at this time from A Suit That Fits and come with a shirt. They can also be order separately in cotton, silk or satin.

Happy dribbling.
