Not only is he the most successful British sailor ever - this guy can rock a suit!
Ben became a role model to young sailing hopefuls when he won his first Olympic medal at the age of 19 and has since become the heartthrob of the sailing world.
Having been selected for Team GB in London 2012 Olymic Games, I've chosen to give this jolly sailor the style once-over and he comes up gold.
Whilst clearly more at home in his dry suit and cap, Ben uses timeless style to his advantage. He keeps the lines simple and details clean he lets his charisma and smile do the work.
Let's taker a closer look at this suit - a classic black with a soft sheen similar to our wool silk blends, it's a medium weight cloth meaning it will work for many occasions.
The 4-button cuff is given a modern twist with the buttons overlapping, also known as a kissing cuff (one of my favourite details for a wedding suit - just because of the name - but it works well for everyday wear). With his angular form, a straight flapped pocket works well for him, although for larger guys I'd suggest slanted as an alternative - it has a slimming effect and prevents boxiness. Couple it with a black silk tie and crisp white shirt you've got a suit that's ready for you any time and anywhere.
Ben Proves you don't have to have a wide range of suits if you dress them right. Looking at recent pictures it appears he has a small but versatile wardrobe of around three well cut suits (two black one peaked lapel, one notched and a navy) and uses a combination of shirts and ties to dress them up and down depending on the occasion. The key thing for this small wardrobe approach is to get the fit spot-on and the style classic. Remember, Ben has a deep complexion so this balance of colours works well for him, if you are warm or muted it would be a good idea to look at dark grey and navy instead.
As the build up to the Olympic Games continues, I'm sure we'll see him out and about looking as dashing as ever. And remember: look relaxed in a classic suit, smile and you'll look great!
