Everybody knows ivory is a good colour for a wedding suit. This is especially true if the suit has a “bespoke” look. But ivory suits aren’t just for weddings. Billy Zane proved this in Los Angeles recently when he took a stroll in an ivory suit, looking more like an old school cricket player than a Hollywood movie star. With his flat cap, facial hair and decidedly relaxed-fitting jacket and trousers, Zane proved that ivory is as good a colour as any for the more casual suit wearer.
Though we tend to focus on neater cuts in this blog (we’re a bespoke tailoring company, after all), it’s sometimes good to remember that not every suit has to be sharp-enough-to-cut. If you want a suit you can be comfortable in at the weekend – say, to wear while picnicking in the park – and if you still don’t want to dress down, a relaxed fit suit in a colour like ivory is a good investment. You’ll look great but you’ll have room to breathe.
Also, take a leaf out of Billy Zane’s book and match your tie, shoes and pocket square. Coffee brown goes beautifully with ivory. If you’re going for a more relaxed look, add sophistication with your accessories. There’s more to ivory than weddings.
