Here at A Suit That Fits in Ireland, we like to keep an eye on the suits that appear on The Graham Norton Show couch each week. Nearly every celebrity who appears on the show suits up nicely and the Friday night slot is fast becoming a showcase of the latest men’s sartorial trends.
This week on the Irish funny man’s show, we were treated to two comedians in two fantastic suits: Richard Ayoade and David Walliams.
Brown tweed (or is that flannel?)
It’s hard to tell from promotional images whether Richard Ayoade’s suit is a brown tweed or a soft flannel. It’s definitely a textured wool but I can’t be sure which fabric it is.
The suit is a perfect winter suit and very on-trend. Whether it’s tweed or flannel (both winter fabrics), it definitely looks warm and comfortable. This season’s fabrics are all about rough or “matte” finishes – the hardiness of tweed and the brushed nature of flannel.
If you like Ayoade’s look, see a similar cloth from A Suit That Fits here.
Black with pinstripes
At first glance, David Walliams’ suit looks like a straight up black number. But on closer inspection, it features a pinstripe.
Walliams made the excellent decision to combine two patterns with a plain white shirt: his pinstriped suit and a polka dot tie.
These simple additions to an otherwise fairly conservative look earned him some great style points.
