Cleary sleek, clearly dapper and clearly tailored; Neyo’s navy two piece suit is our pick for the suit of the month for July 2015. His suiting is impeccably tailored which in turn makes it a razor sharp ensemble. Worn at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards, he stood out from the crowd on the red carpet with his gold embellishments and black fabric detailing. Here we explore his accolade worthy suiting in detail.
Blazer + Trousers
Perhaps purposely so, Neyo’s blazer and trousers are decidedly plain. This results in fluid and non-fussy fabrics that allow the royal navy color to shine through uninterrupted. On his bespoke blazer, the slim fit is complemented by the lighter blue peaked lapels which add a sense of elevation that would otherwise leave the blazer looking flat. In terms of the slim fit, this results in the structure of his shoulders and upper back being framed while his arm length is correctly adhered to. His tailored trousers are just that – tailored to his physique in that they hang freely while tapering the legs thus providing both comfort and style.
Seguing with his dark suit colour is Neyo’s use of a recurrent black fabric to add another colour to his ensemble. This is utilised with his black hat, black top and black shoes. Even worn in this way (at the very top of his outfit, at the midsection and at the very bottom); these details can be seen to punctuate the look. With the use of the these three aforementioned items he adds a sense of casual cool to his formal attire.
Embellishments are the perfect word to describe the precious metals that can be used to accompany an ensemble which is just what Neyo does. His use of two brooches and necklaces provide for a lighter element to his look. These binding elements can be utilised to complete suiting stylistically but it is important that they do not detract from the aesthetics achieved through bespoke tailoring. Neyo achieves the perfect balance of bespoke tailoring with his sharp suiting that is accentuated with complementary detailing.
