If you’ve just started planning your wedding, there’s a good chance you’re thinking about a spring wedding in 2015. A white wedding suit is perfect for the spring.
Here are our tips on how to wear a white groom’s suit with style.
Ivory or sparkling white?
When you opt for a white groom’s suit, it’s important to know whether your bride will be wearing a sparkling white or off-white dress. This is because it’s better if the two of you match. If your bride is wearing ivory and you’re wearing sparkling white, it may be less effective aesthetically than if you wear matching shades of white.
Don’t worry about your complexion or whether the colour suits you: Ivory and sparkling white suit everybody.
If you’re unsure about whether you can pull the look off, take some tips from Olivia Palermo’s extremely stylish husband, Johannes Huebl.
When Huebl got married in a white suit, he kept things classically simple and chic. His suit’s great fit, the jacket’s single button, the shirt’s spread collar and those punctuating black details (his tie and pocket square) made for a fantastic, laid back groom’s suit.
Formal or semi-formal?
Palermo and Huebl opted for the less formal look of a daytime summer wedding. Huebl’s smart but unfussy suit was perfectly suited to Palermo’s simple (but nevertheless very bridal) dress.
What about the more formal white wedding suit?
Check out the suit worn by Christopher Thomas, the American who wed Princess Ruth Komuntale of Uganda in 2012 before they separated in 2013.
Thomas sported an all-white ensemble (even down to the shoes) broken only by the hint of a lilac waistcoat. His French cuffs and studded dress shirt helped to transform an otherwise standard suit into a highly formal wedding outfit.
If you want to combine white with formality for an evening wedding, consider incorporating white into your dinner suit. Options for the white tuxedo include an all-white suit with white satin lapels or a white dinner jacket with black satin detailing and black trousers. Either look will complement your bride’s dress well.
