A few weeks ago, I gave some seasonal advice about how to add stylish knitwear layers to your two or three piece suits (see dress boots to your look. Nothing says “winter 2014” better than a slim-fitting, tweed, three-piece suit with a sweater-layer and dress boots. Whether you decide to pair a pin stripe business suit with Chelsea boots or a heavy tweed suit with work boots, you’ll find that not only are your feet (and your other shoes!) protected from rain and slush, your suits will take on an edgier, more fashion forward vibe. Let’s look at some examples.
Take a look at Avatar actor Sam Worthington’s interesting combination of a silver gray suit and heavy work boots. Nothing beats the combination of a smart (if imperfectly-fitted) suit and the masculinity of bricklayer boots. Responding to a photographer who dared to question the state of his shoe wear, Worthington joked: “Mate, take it easy or that’s the last pic you get. They’re comfortable. Why wouldn’t I wear them?” Apparently, they’re his lucky boots.
On a more stylish note, Jonathan Rhys Meyers recently caught my attention wearing some huge ankle boots with a tailored jacket. Lesson to be learned? Mix your business wear with adventurous shoe wear! Even Bradley Cooper, who always looks impeccable, knows how to combine a slim-fit navy suit with some brown Red Wing ranger boots. Why can’t you?
