I joined the A Suit That Fits Ireland team last October after I came to them looking for a suit for the Hi Magazine style awards. After we got talking and through the custom design process, I was asked to come on board as the Munster brand ambassador for the company. Karen (the Cork studio manager) had asked by this regarding my work in the Cork fashion scene – I had designed a collection for Mercedes Benz Cork Fashion Week.
Being a brand ambassador involves a number of key attributes. One needs an in depth involvement with your local social scene i.e. attending launch parties, gala events and press days etc. thus enabling you to show and represent A Suit That Fits Ireland at these high profile events while wearing your custom made attire.
As a Leinster brand ambassador for example, your main area would obviously be Dublin and the surrounding counties. To promote the brand and yourself, one must have a good grasp of social media. This is because not only does your role involve highlighting the brand, but also to keep a tabs on your own profile as it goes on the rise. As a brand ambassador you will attend and recount cover events for the A Suit That Fits Ireland’s official blog ‘Off the Cuff’ and through real time posting from events through Instagram or Facebook linking in with other bloggers and tailoring enthusiasts. Social media in this aspect is important to be on the pulse of what is happening in your chose n social and professional spheres.
As this is a bespoke tailoring company for menswear and womenswear of all ages and occasions, you must obviously have a keen interest in suiting style and fashion overall. Wile you don’t need to be the next McQueen, being able to talk confidently about the styling, cut, finish, and intricate detailing that A Suit That Fits offers (such as digitally printed bespoke blazer linings) is a must.
I for one enjoy the sociable aspect of being a brand ambassador. One should not be afraid to talk to people they don’t know – because strangers are just friends you haven’t made yet. Therefore legitimately networking at the media events that are frequented by like minded individuals is a bonus for all involved and s is key for garnering people’s interest.
