What better place to start our Cardiff launch countdown, than the most famous of all Welsh sartorial styles, the Prince of Wales Check ?!
Made famous by King Edward VII who, along with the turn-up , the trouser crease and the obligatory unfastened bottom waistcoat button, is likely to have laid claim to more fashion inventions than any other member of Royalty, or perhaps even noblemen!
Sure, King Edward was not Welsh, but it was he as the Prince of Wales, that popularised the Scottish plaid design. And what a design to have in a nation’s sartorial back catalogue. In addition, who hasn’t at some time in their life, sported trousers creases, turn-ups or unfastened the bottom button on their waistcoat? It may not make you feel patriotic, but it’s a sartorial start!
