London fashion world, but no more so than today thanks to a project funded by Red Bull Studios London. In June, one of London’s hottest young menswear designers, Alex Mattsson, teamed up (thanks to Red Bull) with up-and-coming Los Angeles rapper Brooke Candy (below) to produce the bespoke track "Dumb" for Mattsson’s Spring/Summer 2014 "Pineal Dawn" Collection. The freaky rapper even performed the track live at Mattsson’s show during this year’s London Collections. This week the track was released alongside a sexually-charged video starring Brooke Candy (dressed in camo and sporting pigtails like a cosplay Cammy from Street Fighter) and some fantastic garments by Mattsson.
"Pineal Dawn" is heavy on camouflage, Rastafari-inspired designs and military-wear, very different from his last collection, "Chuco 2.0," which featured these heavily-pleated black and dark grey pinstripe suits (below). I’ll leave you with one thought about why we’re so inspired here at Mattsson’s fabulous collaboration. Partly, it’s because we’ve always been so rooted in London life; anything involving London menswear interests us for obvious reason. But I also like to think it’s because we try to collaborate with our clients every day, to get their measurements and their suit just right.
